What schools ask before choosing MMSONU.

Do parents need to install an app to receive messages?

No. SMS and WhatsApp messages go straight to the parent's existing phone number — no app required. The parent portal (for chat, PTM booking, viewing marks) is accessible via web browser too. The mobile app is optional and only enhances the experience.

How are SMS/WhatsApp costs managed?

SMS and WhatsApp API costs are pay-as-you-go through our integrated provider (typically ₹0.15–₹0.30 per SMS, WhatsApp Business rates apply). You get a monthly bill based on actual usage. Many schools include these costs in the parent's annual miscellaneous fee.

Can teachers message parents individually or only in bulk?

Both. Teachers can message a whole class, section, or a specific parent. Individual messages are useful for sensitive topics (e.g., behavior concerns, specific academic issues). Bulk messages are efficient for circulars and reminders.

Can parents reply to alerts?

Depends on the channel. WhatsApp replies come back to the school's WhatsApp Business API and appear in the unified inbox. SMS replies can be configured to forward (if you have a reply-enabled short code). App messages are always two-way. Automated alerts (absence, fee) are typically one-way; parents respond via portal.

How does PTM booking work with multiple children in school?

Parents with multiple children see all children in their portal. When booking PTM, they book slots per child per teacher. The system prevents overlapping slots — if child A has 10:00 AM with Teacher X, child B can't also be at 10:00 AM with Teacher Y. Smart conflict detection.

Is parent-teacher chat monitored?

All chat is logged and accessible to the principal and admins (transparency for both sides). Teachers can't share personal phone numbers — communication stays on the platform. If a conversation needs to escalate, chat can be forwarded to a coordinator. This protects both teachers and parents.

Can we schedule messages for later?

Yes. Any message can be scheduled for a future date/time. Common use cases: fee reminders scheduled for the 1st of each month, exam schedule sent 1 week before, holiday announcements scheduled for evenings. Set once, runs automatically.

What about DND (Do Not Disturb) numbers?

Our SMS provider uses DLT-registered templates which bypass DND for transactional messages (attendance, fees, exam results). Promotional messages (events, photos) respect DND. WhatsApp isn't affected by DND. We guide you through DLT registration if you don't have it yet.
