What schools ask before choosing MMSONU.

Do I really not need GPS hardware?

Correct. In Option 1, the driver's mobile phone acts as the GPS tracker. The driver installs our app, taps "Start Trip," and the app streams location updates to our servers — which then shows live position in all portals. No separate device, no installation, no SIM card purchase.

What if the driver's phone has no internet or battery dies?

The app buffers location locally and syncs when internet returns. If the phone dies, the transport manager sees "last known location + X minutes ago" — which usually indicates a problem. We recommend drivers keep phones charged; the app can alert the manager if a trip has stopped updating for more than 10 minutes.

Can we use GPS tracking on some buses and metro-mode on others?

Yes — mode is set per route, not per school. So school bus (long route, more stops) can use GPS tracking, while a short van route can use metro-mode. You can also switch a route between modes anytime.

How does "X stops away" work in metro mode?

The driver taps "Next Stop" as each stop is reached. The system knows the remaining stop sequence — so parent X waiting at Stop 5 sees "3 stops away" when bus is at Stop 2. ETA is computed based on average stop-to-stop time for that route.

Can parents see where the bus is on a map?

Yes — in GPS mode, parents see the bus marker moving on a live map, their own stop marked, and ETA. In metro mode, they see the stop-progress visual (like the demo above). Both views are available per route.

Do drivers need a smartphone?

Yes — any Android (5.0+) or iOS (12+) phone works. We recommend a basic Android phone if the school provides one (₹5,000-8,000) — even with that cost, it's still cheaper than per-bus GPS hardware + installation + SIM charges.

What about student safety — can the driver mark a student as picked/dropped?

Yes. In the driver app, they can tap a student's name to mark "picked up" or "dropped off". Parents get instant notification: "Rahul has been picked up at 7:42 AM" or "Rahul has been dropped at home at 4:15 PM." This is essential safety tracking.

How long is trip history saved?

90 days by default. Can be extended to 1 year on request (small storage fee). Essential for accident investigations, parent complaints, or audit purposes.
